The gendarmerie overthrows an organized international criminal network that trades drugs

The National Gendarmerie in Sharqa, Algeria, was able to dismantle an organized criminal network with an international reach, specialized in trading in hallucinogenic tablets and psychotropic substances. 10 people were arrested and nearly 17,000 hallucinogenic tablets were seized.

A statement by the National Gendarmerie Command, on Thursday, stated that, within the framework of combating crime of all kinds, the Search and Investigation Service of the National Gendarmerie in Sharqa was able to dismantle an organized criminal network, with an international reach, specialized in smuggling and illicit import of narcotics and psychotropic substances of all kinds, with a high degree of risk that threatens national security and public health, as well as possession, transportation and storage for the purpose of illicit trade in narcotics and psychotropic substances within the framework of an organized criminal group, as well as a misdemeanor of laundering. Money and forgery of vehicle bodies and documents.

The same interests added that this specific case was carried out based on information received by the Research and Investigation Department of the National Gendarmerie in Sharqa. After exploiting the information element, intensifying investigations and using special investigative techniques, the identity of the network members and their whereabouts were determined, as they moved to several states of the country, and this is in coordination with the competent judicial authorities.

This specific operation enabled the arrest of 10 people, including a woman, most of whom had prior judicial precedent and subject to arrest warrants, with the seizure of a significant amount of psychotropic substances estimated at 16,921 Pregabalin 300 mg capsules, 14 hallucinogenic Ketel tablets, 19 tourist vehicles and two trucks, a sum of money from criminal proceeds worth 340,000 DZD, and mobile phones.

The National Gendarmerie Command highlighted that after completing all applicable legal procedures, the suspects will be brought before the competent regional judicial authorities to look into the case.
