The Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League issued its decisions regarding the confrontation of the capital derby, which brought together CR Belouizdad and Mouloudia Algiers in the Algerian Cup quarter-finals, on the third of last March.
The runner-up of the previous edition, Chabab Belouizdad, Algeria’s Mouloudia club, eliminated after winning by three goals to two, in the confrontation that extended into two extra periods at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki.
The Disciplinary Committee punished the Youth Administration by depriving its team of its fans in two matches, warning it and obliging it to pay a fine of 600,000 Algerian dinars.
The reason for this is that the team’s supporters threw fireworks and bottles onto the field before and during the match, causing physical damage to the players of the opposing team, according to the association’s statement.
The committee also suspended Belouizdad Youth Leader, Abdel Raouf Ben Ghaith, for two matches, one of which was suspended, in addition to fining him 100,000 dinars after he urged the players to leave the field in protest after the referee announced a penalty kick.
Derby without an audience
The two capital teams will meet again at the end of this month, but this time in the first professional league competition.
The association scheduled the late match of the 16th round on March 25, which is expected to be held at Nelson Mandela Stadium as well.
Al-Shabab fans will officially miss the date, following the issuance of the Disciplinary Committee’s penalties.
The team would have served the penalty had it not been for its participation in the African Confederation Cup, where an important match awaits them in the quarter-finals against Al-Masry of Port Said, next Saturday.
The Professional Football League postponed the transfer of the Sons of Agaiba to Setif to face ES Setif in the 23rd round (scheduled for March 13), while keeping the date of the week 24 match against AS Chlef on March 18.
