Fayed participates in the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington – Al-Hiwar Algeria

Finance Minister Laziz Fayed will participate in the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund scheduled from April 15 to 20 in Washington, according to a ministry statement on Sunday.
The statement explained that, “Within the framework of his international commitments, the Minister of Finance, Laziz Fayed, in his capacity as Algeria’s governor of the multilateral development banks, will lead a delegation from his ministerial department to participate from April 15 to 20, 2024 in the spring meetings held by the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund scheduled in Washington.” (United State)”.
These meetings, which will constitute an opportunity to discuss global economic challenges, economic development, and financial stability in addition to other related issues, include general sessions, forums, round tables, and parallel events that will allow participants to discuss policies, exchange ideas, and search for solutions to global economic and financial problems.
These meetings also allow for bilateral meetings to be held between representatives of member countries, officials of international institutions, and other active parties, according to the same statement.
In this context, Mr. Fayed will participate in the scheduled meetings of the World Bank Group (the Development Committee, the G24, the International Monetary and Financial Committee…).
He will also meet with the high officials of this body in order to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two parties, taking into account Algeria’s development goals.
Mr. Fayed, along with other finance ministers and central bank governors in the Middle East and North Africa region, will participate in the scheduled meeting with the Director General of the International Monetary Fund. He will also meet with the high officials of this body to discuss current global economic trends, challenges and opportunities, in addition to the prospects for economic growth and financial stability.
On the sidelines of his participation in the spring meetings, the Minister of Finance will meet with his counterparts from other member countries and high representatives of other international and regional financial institutions to discuss bilateral issues, in addition to his participation in parallel events, adds the Ministry of Finance statement.
