Authorities in the Australian state of New South Wales announced that the death toll from the shooting attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney has risen to 12 people.

In an incident that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described as “shocking and disturbing.”

Albanese stressed that the incident is an “irrational terrorist act aimed at instilling fear.”

Adding that the police and security agencies are working to identify all those involved. He called on citizens in the vicinity of the accident to fully adhere to the instructions issued by the authorities.

The Prime Minister explained that the attack targeted a Jewish event organized by the Chabad movement on the occasion of Hanukkah, attended by about 2,000 people.

Emphasizing that the government stands by the Jewish community and allocates all possible resources to ensure its safety and protection.

Albanese indicated that the security services are working to identify anyone linked to this shameful act, stressing the government’s commitment to protecting all citizens and ensuring that such terrorist acts are not repeated.
