The Chinese President criticizes Maduro’s arrest and considers it a threat to the international order

Chinese President Xi Jinping criticized the US arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, and considered that “unilateral and arrogant practices undermine the international order.”

Xi’s statements came during his meeting with Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin, stressing that the world is in a state of chaos.

He called on all countries to respect the development path chosen by their people and to abide by international law and the goals of the United Nations Charter, stressing the role of major powers as pioneers in this framework.

For his part, the Prime Minister of Ireland stressed the need to adhere to international law in resolving disputes, stressing his country’s defense of this principle.

It is noteworthy that US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday the implementation of an operation against Venezuela that resulted in the arrest of Maduro and his wife.

He justified this by seeking to manage matters there to ensure a safe transfer of power.

Meanwhile, the US Department of Justice issued an indictment document against Maduro related to “leading a corrupt government” and “cooperating with drug traffickers and terrorists.”
