The Chairman of the African Union Commission appreciates the successful launch of the Algerian satellite “Alsat-3A” – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Chairman of the African Union Commission, Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssef, congratulated the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria on the occasion of the successful launch of the “Alsat-3A” satellite dedicated to Earth observation, considering that this achievement constitutes an advanced step in strengthening space and geospatial capabilities at the level of the African continent.

The President of the Commission stressed that this success reflects Algeria’s leadership in the field of space science, and highlights its commitment to employing satellite technologies in the service of sustainable development, environmental protection, and reducing the risks of natural disasters, as well as supporting decision-making based on accurate data.

The African official expressed his hope that the high-resolution data that the Alsat-3A satellite will provide will contribute to supporting national and continental priorities, in line with the 2063 Agenda of the African Union, as well as African space policy and strategy.

The African Union Commission also welcomed the spirit of international cooperation that characterized the satellite launch, praising Algeria’s continued investments in the space field and its peaceful use of outer space, in a way that serves the collective progress of the African continent.
