The army thwarts the smuggling of more than 4.5 quintals of coffee and 1.4 million hallucinogenic tablets – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with security services, succeeded during the past week in thwarting attempts to smuggle more than 4.5 quintals of processed kif across the border with Morocco, and seized about 1.4 million hallucinogenic tablets, in operations that included various military aspects, according to a statement on Wednesday.

These operations, extending from February 11 to 17, 2026, resulted in the arrest of 43 drug dealers and the confiscation of large quantities of drugs, in addition to the seizure of equipment for illegal gold prospecting, materials intended for smuggling, and the arrest of 340 illegal immigrants of different nationalities, which reflects the constant vigilance and readiness of the People’s National Army forces in protecting national security and combating organized crime.
