Within a week, detachments of the People’s National Army were able to arrest 4 members of support for terrorist groups, while a terrorist surrendered himself to the military authorities. 29 drug dealers were also arrested and attempts to bring in more than 4 quintals of drugs coming from Morocco were thwarted.
The Ministry of National Defense explained, in a statement on Wednesday, that as part of the fight against terrorism, the terrorist named “D.B.,” nicknamed “Musab,” surrendered himself to the military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and was in possession of a Kalashnikov submachine gun, a quantity of ammunition, and other items. Four members of support for terrorist groups were also arrested during separate operations across the national territory, and a Kalashnikov machine gun, seven RPG-7 rocket launcher projectiles, and other items were seized in the Tamanrasset military sector.
In the same context, and within the framework of combating organized crime, detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with the joint security services, arrested 29 drug dealers, and thwarted attempts to bring 4 quintals and 38 kilograms of processed kif across the border with Morocco, and 1,061,685 hallucinogenic tablets were also seized.
Other army detachments in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah, and In Qouzam also arrested 212 people, and seized 43 vehicles, 77 electric generators, 47 pressure hammers, and 3 metal detectors, in addition to quantities of a mixture of gold ore, stones, and equipment used in illegal gold prospecting operations. 12 other people were also arrested, and 3 machine guns, an automatic pistol, 3 hunting rifles, 21,925 liters of fuel, and 6 quintals of tobacco were seized during separate operations.
On the other hand, coast guards thwarted illegal immigration attempts on the national coasts, and rescued 122 people who were on board traditional-made boats, while 475 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.
