Within a week, detachments of the People’s National Army were able to arrest 5 members of support for terrorist groups, while a terrorist surrendered himself to the military authorities, while 49 drug dealers were arrested and attempts to introduce two containers of Moroccan drugs were thwarted.
A statement by the Ministry of National Defense stated, on Wednesday, that within the framework of the fight against terrorism and thanks to the efforts of units of the People’s National Army, the terrorist named “H.A”, alias “Abu Nour al-Huda”, surrendered himself to the military authorities in Qazam, and was in possession of a Kalashnikov-type machine gun and a quantity of ammunition and other items, while other army detachments arrested 5 members of support for terrorist groups, during separate operations across the national territory.
In the same context, and within the framework of combating organized crime and continuing the persistent efforts aimed at confronting the scourge of drug trafficking in the country, joint detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with various security services during operations across the military regions, arrested 49 drug dealers and thwarted attempts to bring two bottles and 89 kilograms of processed kif across the border with Morocco, while 7.49 kilograms of cocaine and 961,582 hallucinogenic tablets were seized.
Detachments of the People’s National Army also arrested 334 people in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Saleh, In Guezam, Illizi and Djanet, and seized 33 vehicles, 150 electric generators, 120 pressure hammers, and two metal detectors, in addition to quantities of a mixture of gold ore and stones and equipment used in illegal gold prospecting operations, while 21 other people were arrested and a machine gun, a hunting rifle were seized, 147.18 liters of fuel, 366 quintals of tobacco, and 55 tons of foodstuffs destined for smuggling, during separate operations.
On the other hand, coast guards thwarted illegal immigration attempts on the national coast and rescued 254 people who were on board traditional-made boats, while 280 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.
