Within a week, detachments of the People’s National Army were able to arrest 6 members of support for terrorist groups, while two terrorists surrendered themselves to the military authorities, while 76 drug dealers were arrested and attempts to transport 11 quintals of processed kif across the border with Morocco were thwarted.
A statement by the Ministry of National Defence, on Wednesday, stated that, within the framework of the fight against terrorism, detachments of the People’s National Army were able to eliminate 4 terrorists and recover 4 Kalashnikov machine pistols, two hand grenades, a quantity of ammunition and other items in Ain Defla.
The two terrorists called, respectively, “K.M.,” alias “Al-Tarmidhi,” and “H.M.,” alias “Nasreddine,” also surrendered themselves to the military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar and In Qezzam. They were in possession of a Kalashnikov-type machine gun, two semi-automatic rifles, and a quantity of ammunition and various items, while 6 members of support for terrorist groups were arrested during separate operations across the national territory.
In the same context, and within the framework of the fight against organized crime, detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with the joint security forces, were able to arrest 76 drug dealers and thwart attempts to bring 11 quintals and 38 kilograms of processed kif across the border with Morocco, and seized 13.28 kilograms of cocaine and 681,4,541 hallucinogenic tablets.
Other army detachments also arrested 299 people and seized 29 vehicles, 194 electric generators, 159 pressure hammers, in addition to quantities of gold ore mixture, stones, and equipment used in illegal gold prospecting operations, while 12 other people were arrested and two machine guns, a Kalashnikov submachine gun, two hunting rifles, and 800.46 liters of fuel intended for smuggling were seized.
On the other hand, detachments of the People’s National Army arrested 275 illegal immigrants of different nationalities across the national territory.
