The American Embassy warns: Do not pay any financial bond before the consular interview – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The US Embassy in Algeria called on applicants who qualify for a B1/B2 visa not to pay any financial bond worth up to 15,000 US dollars before the consular interview.
The embassy explained, in a post on its official Facebook page, that starting from January 21, 2026,
Some Algerian applicants who qualify for business or tourist visas may be required to post a refundable bond of up to $15,000, after the interview and before the visa is issued.
The consular services stressed that advance payment does not guarantee obtaining a visa.
Warning against any financial transactions or claims outside the official framework.
The embassy confirmed that only concerned applicants will be informed immediately after the interview by a consular officer.
Providing them with an official and direct link to the government payment platform pay.gov, along with the necessary instructions to complete the process safely and legally.
