International Workers’ Day…various celebratory demonstrations in the south of the country – Algerian Dialogue

On Wednesday, all the southern states of the country witnessed various celebratory demonstrations on the occasion of commemorating International Workers’ Day, which falls on May 1 of each year.
These celebrations included races for postmen organized by the Algerian Post Corporation at the level of most states, such as Ouargla, Laghouat and Adrar, which culminated in the handing over of honorary certificates to the first winners, in addition to honoring a number of retired workers affiliated with institutions in various sectors, in gratitude for the efforts made throughout their professional paths.
In Tindouf, the state authorities, accompanied by officials of the railway project in the region, supervised the signing of work contracts for the benefit of the state’s youth, during a ceremony held at the level of the life base of the National Company for Public Works, in addition to organizing an exhibition of traditional crafts at the Abdelhamid Mehri House of Culture in the state capital.
As for Ghardaia, a ceremony was organized at the state headquarters in honor of the employees of this local group, during which a number of workers who were retired and others who were veteran employees of the state were honored.
In the state of Bashar, on the occasion, a memorial was inaugurated in honor of the workers who worked in the old coal mines in the Qanadisa and New Bashar areas, in addition to launching a afforestation campaign at Taheri Muhammad University.
The manifestations of the commemoration of International Workers’ Day in the state of Tougurt were marked by the inauguration of the social medical center for employees of local communities in the municipality of Zawia al-Abdiyya, while the state of Djanet witnessed the organization of a ceremony in the presence of state authorities and union frameworks, which constituted an opportunity to highlight the role of the worker as an essential partner in local development and the construction process.
