The Algerian heptathlon leaves the African Championship from the semi-finals

The Algerian heptathlete failed to reach the final of the 27th edition of the African Nations Championship, after losing to Tunisia by a score of 33 to 24.

Coach Saleh Bushkerio’s squad was unable to keep up with the opponent’s pace on the floor of the PK Hall in Kigali, Rwanda, recording its third defeat in this tournament.

The national team will compete for third and fourth place against the Cape Verde Islands team, which also qualified for the finals of the World Championship Germany 2027.

A team without strengths

The national heptathlete made the same mistakes he made in the opening match against Nigeria.

Several shortcomings appeared on the defensive and offensive levels, while a question mark was raised over the performance of goalkeeper Khalifa Ghadban, who blocked only seven shots.

Ayoub Abdi’s teammates were unable to stop the Tunisian national team’s attacks, in addition to wasting balls in a naive manner when building attacks.

The brilliance of Tunisian goalkeeper Mehdi Al-Harbawi contributed. Who blocked thirteen shots to expand the goal difference.

The Carthage Eagles won the first half in their favor by eight goals (19-11).

The gap was then reduced to five goals in the first ten minutes of the second stage, but the lack of concentration and repeated mistakes hastened the Tunisians’ strong return and expanded it again.

The Maghreb derby match saw the return of veteran Masoud Barkous, the left back of Al-Abyar club, after an injury kept him out of the team at the start of the African Championship.

The 2014 African champion is participating for the tenth time in the continental competition, a record that no player has ever set before.

On the other hand, the Egyptian and Tunisian teams will compete, on Saturday evening, for the continental title in the PK Hall.

The Pharaohs aim to lift the championship cup for the fourth time in a row, and the tenth in their history, thus equaling the number of Tunisia’s crowns.
