The Algerian Civil Defense is ranked tenth in the world

A recent international study ranked the Algerian Civil Defense in tenth place in the world among the best civil defense agencies, based on its high readiness and ability to deal with major disasters, noting that it is the only African organization that has succeeded in reserving a place for itself on the list of the thirty best in the world.
This classification came in light of a study conducted by Harvard University, under the supervision of the American experts, Alfred Maxim and Gianna Thompson, and published by the website of the Posp newspaper, which specializes in political and security analyses. The newspaper indicated that the study “was based on precise criteria that include the number of annual interventions and the percentage of the population of individuals, in addition to the population size, experience in major operations, and the geographical area of the country, in addition to the contribution to international relief operations outside the borders.”
The American Civil Defense took the lead, followed by leading international bodies from Japan, Germany, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, Canada and France.
The study attributed this “qualitative development” to the strategy pursued by the Director General of Civil Protection, Colonel Boualem Bouglaf, who created a “revolution” in operational work methods through monthly simulation exercises for natural and industrial disasters to ensure maximum readiness, as well as specialized practical exercises, including combating forest fires, drowning accidents, factory fires, floods and earthquakes.
A Chinese official praised the professionalism of protection and the quality of work of its specialized teams to intervene in various fields, such as natural disasters and road accidents, noting Algeria’s rapid response to relief appeals from several countries by sending specialized civil protection teams.
