The African Union summit praises President Tebboune’s efforts in combating terrorism – New Algeria

The 39th session of the African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government praised the efforts of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in his capacity as the African Union coordinator in the field of combating terrorism and violent extremism.

This came within the framework of strengthening and activating the continental program aimed at unifying and intensifying coordination among member states in this field.

In a resolution related to peace and security in Africa, the conference called for accelerating the implementation of the practical and concrete proposals put forward by President Tebboune, appreciating the progress made by the African Union Commission in supporting continental responses to combating terrorism and violent extremism, as well as in strengthening the institutional capacities of member states.

The summit also adopted the outcomes of the twelfth high-level symposium on peace and security in Africa, held in December 2025 under the title “Oran Track,” as a supportive framework for joint African efforts in this field.

The conference noted the role of Algeria, alongside the “A3” countries, in defending African issues and interests within the UN Security Council, stressing the importance of continuing coordination and joint work to strengthen Africa’s voice in international forums.
