Tashrift: Colonial crimes in Algeria do not have a statute of limitations – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Minister of Mujahideen and People of Rights, Abdelmalek Tachrift, confirmed that the colonial crimes to which Algeria was subjected do not have a statute of limitations and cannot be forgotten, stressing that remembering them is a moral and historical duty to protect national memory.

The minister indicated, during the presentation of a law proposal to criminalize French colonialism in the People’s Assembly, that the initiative reflects national awareness and historical responsibility towards the Algerian nation, and strengthens the legislative system to protect national memory.

He explained that French colonialism committed heinous crimes that included exile, displacement, murder, torture, land confiscation, and attempts to obliterate national identity, stressing that recognition of these crimes is a basic condition for achieving human justice and justice for the Algerian people.

Tashrift concluded by saying that the proposed law is not only a legislative text, but also a fulfillment of the sacrifices of the martyrs, the protection of national memory, and the consolidation of the values ​​of historical justice for future generations.
