The state has taken all measures to implement the increase in the unemployment grant

On Thursday, the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Abdelhak Sayhi, held a meeting devoted to following up on the implementation of the provisions of Executive Decree No. 26-87 of January 21, 2026, amending and supplementing Executive Decree No. 22-70 of February 10, 2022, relating to the conditions and methods for benefiting from the unemployment grant and its amount, in addition to the obligations associated with it, which confirms the state’s commitment to its pledges.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister appreciated the decision of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, issued during the Council of Ministers held on November 30, 2025, regarding raising the amount of the unemployment grant from 15,000 DZD to 18,000 DZD, considering that this decision reflects the special care that the President of the Republic gives to the youth category and his keenness to strengthen mechanisms for social support and professional integration.
The Minister stressed that the new executive decree embodies the state’s will to improve the living conditions of beneficiaries of the unemployment grant and enhances the opportunities for their effective integration into the labor market.
During the meeting, the Minister issued instructions to direct beneficiaries towards specific training paths crowned with certificates, enabling them to join work positions that are compatible with their qualifications and professional potential, stressing the strengthening of coordination with the vocational training and education sector through a dedicated digital platform, which aims to facilitate directing beneficiaries towards specific training that supports their professional path and increases their employment opportunities.
He stressed the importance of accompanying young people who benefit from the unemployment grant until they are able to obtain permanent job positions, as part of the mediation tasks undertaken by the sector, especially after they complete the training courses, to ensure their effective professional integration and enhance their contribution to economic development.
In the same context, Sayhi gave instructions to accelerate the pace of work to enable new grant applicants to benefit from the unemployment grant, while updating the dates and enhancing their digitization and transparency within the next few days, within the framework of simplifying registration procedures, handling new applications, and processing files as soon as possible.
It is worth noting that this meeting comes within the framework of the labor, employment and social security sector’s keenness to effectively implement the new executive decree, ensuring the achievement of its social and economic goals and consolidating the state’s direction towards supporting young people and empowering them with real and sustainable job opportunities.
