Hamas’s response to the recent plan of former US President Donald Trump has sparked a wide discussion in the Palestinian and Arab circles, after which a different approach to the traditional data that the movement used to issue in such stations.

The response, which included references to accepting some procedural items such as stopping the war, withdrawing the occupation forces, and launching the occupation prisoners and their bodies according to the proposal of the US President Donald Trump’s plan, with a request to negotiate the detailed points, and mortgaged some points with the agreement of the Palestinian national framework, in a clear expression of the pursuit of political realism and the adherence to the national principles.

A detailed approach

The writer and political analyst Wissam Afifa saw that the movement “did not deal with the paper as one bloc for rejection or acceptance, but rather chose a detailed approach that distinguishes between the items that can be initiated immediately, and the items that affect the essence of Palestinian rights.”

In a comment by the Palestinian Media Center, followed by the response that the response came, “After broad internal and factional consultations, with regional and international brochures, which gives it a national nature that does not only reflect the movement’s position, but a general Palestinian position.”

He added that the movement of the movement “welcomed positively and ignored what contradicts the right of the people to self -determination”, which was consistent with “Arab and Islamic positions from Egypt and Qatar to Pakistan, which expressed clear reservations about the plan.”

A nationally responsible enthusiasm responded

The writer and journalist Ali Bou Rizk believes that Hamas’s response came “a responsible national, puts the first, second and third considerations in the interest of the Palestinian people above any party interest,” explaining that the response “did not bring the conditional approval, but rather with the approval that takes place in the interim Palestinian position and the Arab and Islamic umbrellas.”

He added that the importance of the situation lies in that he “returned the ball to the Israeli square after Trump and his Israeli ally tried to photograph Gaza as if it were alone in the face of the world,” stressing that the response “came in line with the Qatari, Turkish, Egyptian and Pakistani statements that confirmed a coup against the paper that Washington formulated with the Arab and Islamic delegation.”

An accurate understanding of reality

As for the head of the European Mediterranean Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdo, he saw that “the response of Hamas reflects an accurate understanding of the current reality and preserves margins to achieve the possible national rights and bloodshed, while evoking the necessity for a comprehensive Palestinian national framework that decides in the overall national issues.”

Trump’s plan – Netanyahu included a package of proposals that sparked widespread controversy since its announcement, especially after Arab and Islamic countries asserted that they are not the same text that was presented to the leaders of these countries during the meeting with Trump. The plan presented a procedural and other vision related to political and security arrangements that directly affect the issues of sovereignty and the future of the sector, away from the Palestinian factions and authority. While Washington tried to pass it through an Arab and Islamic umbrella, Hamas’s position, along with the factions, came to reaffirm that any settlement could not be imposed in isolation from the national consensus.

Approval as a principle

Hamas leader Musa Abu Marzouq said that Hamas agreed to the headlines of the plan of US President Donald Trump as a general principle, but its implementation requires negotiations, noting that the movement dealt positively with the items that concern it in the plan, while refusing to classify it as a terrorist organization.

He stressed that the priority is currently the cessation of war and massacres, and that all the details related to the power of peacekeeping need understandings. He added that handing over the prisoners and bodies within 72 hours is unrealistic in the current circumstances, and that the movement will enter into negotiations that include all the issues related to them and their weapons.

The movement’s leader pointed to a national consensus to hand over the Gaza administration to independently under the reference of the Palestinian Authority, pointing out that the future of the Palestinian people is settling nationally and not by Hamas’s decision alone, and calling on the United States to look positively to this future.
