On Wednesday, several states witnessed strong winds at a speed of 120 km/h, accompanied by thunderstorms, which uprooted a number of trees, house roofs, and electrical poles, causing injuries and serious material damage.

In terms of transportation, stormy weather conditions and strong winds caused delays in flights, amid continuous warnings to citizens of the need to be vigilant and cautious of flying objects.

Accordingly, on Wednesday, the General Directorate of Civil Protection recorded some interventions in various states of the country, as a result of weather fluctuations caused by strong wind gusts exceeding 120 km/h. Lieutenant Colonel Nassim Bernaoui, Sub-Director of Media and Statistics at the Directorate, said that these interventions were recorded in the states of the capital, Tizi Ouzou, Tipaza, Tiaret, Blida, Ain Temouchent, Blida, and Mostaganem, stressing that they did not cause any significant human losses.

Among the remnants of the winds that swept through some states of the country were the fall of trees and electrical poles and the collapse of the exterior walls of a house without any casualties.

Bernawi indicated in a television statement that after analyzing the situation of the special deployments, the units were placed under a state of maximum alert, and there were strict instructions from the General Directorate of Civil Protection and directives from the authorities of the concerned states, which exceeded 40 states, to mobilize all human and material means and harness all capabilities, as there are 3 teams present at the level of all the barracks.

Support and initial intervention teams were also recruited in anticipation of strong winds or floods in strategic places according to the location plans, in order to intervene quickly and reduce the time period for intervention, in addition to creating follow-up cells to assess the situation and take the necessary measures according to digital platforms that help in analyzing information in the fastest time.

In this regard, the Ministry of Interior, Local Communities and Transport called on citizens and drivers to double their caution in light of the continued blowing of these strong winds that some states of the country are witnessing until today, Thursday. The Ministry also provided a set of advice, the most important of which is caution while driving and avoiding valleys and low-lying areas, in addition to securing volatile objects, and following official bulletins.

The meteorological services also warned of very strong winds, exceeding 120 km/h, and the same authority reported in a special bulletin that the concerned states of Chlef, Tipaza, Algeria, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Ain Defla, Medea, Blida, Bouira, and the winds are from westerly to southwesterly at a speed ranging between 60 and 80 km/h and sometimes reach and exceed 90 km/h and reach 120/100 km/h over the coastal states until at least today, Thursday, at 12:00.

The same special bulletin also indicated that the states of Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Mila, Constantine, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Batna, Oum El Bouaghi, Khenchela, Tebessa, and Biskra will witness winds from westerly to southwesterly at speeds ranging between 60 and 80 km/h, reaching and sometimes exceeding 90 km/h, and reaching 120/100. km/h, especially in the coastal states and the Aures region.

This preventive measure comes in view of the expected bad weather conditions, accompanied by strong winds that may exceed a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, which may lead to falling objects and endangering the safety of citizens and property in the Adal neighborhoods. As stated in a statement by Just Emo, these preventive measures come in order to ensure the safety of the population, and to avoid any risks that may result from weather fluctuations.
