The Spanish Minister will hold discussions with his Algerian counterpart Said Saioud, Minister of the Interior, Local Communities and Transport.
To discuss ways to reduce the flow of irregular migrants and secure the common maritime borders.
Marlaska is accompanied on his visit by a high-level security delegation.
In a move that reflects Madrid’s desire to reactivate bilateral cooperation channels after a period of diplomatic apathy.
This is the first visit of its kind by a Spanish official at this level since the outbreak of the crisis between the two countries in 2022.
