Arkab receives the diplomatic advisor to the Italian Prime Minister in charge of the Mattei Plan – Algerian Dialogue

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received today, Tuesday in Algiers, the diplomatic advisor to the Italian Prime Minister, in charge of the “Mattei Plan”, Fabrizio Saggio, where he discussed with him ways to enhance cooperation in the field of energy and mines, according to a ministry statement.
During this meeting, which took place at the ministry’s headquarters in the presence of its executives and the Italian ambassador to Algeria, the two parties reviewed the state of cooperation and partnership relations between the two countries, which were described as “excellent” in the field of energy and mines, and the prospects for enhancing them, according to the statement.
On this occasion, Mr. Saggio gave a presentation on the “Matti Plan”, which takes its name from the founder of the Italian energy company “Eni”, Enrico Matti. This plan aims to strengthen cooperation relations with African countries, by helping them develop their natural resources, especially in the areas of Energy and infrastructure, as well as diversifying supply chains.

Overall, the plan aims to ensure energy security and achieve economic and sustainable development in many other fields such as agriculture, health, water, training, research and development, and others.

Mr. Saggio also expressed Italy’s desire to cooperate with Algeria in promoting training in many fields, such as energy.

The two parties also discussed business and investment opportunities and ways and means of exchanging experiences and expertise between companies of the two countries, especially with regard to fuels, developing new and renewable energies, reducing the carbon footprint and transferring knowledge and technology.

In turn, the Minister provided an overview of the various sector programs to develop new and renewable energies, and develop natural gas and electricity production, welcoming the progress achieved in the partnership between the two countries.

Mr. Arkab also appreciated Italy’s efforts to enhance and intensify cooperation based on mutual respect and common interests with African countries, which aims to stimulate investments and improve infrastructure, through the “Mati Plan”, especially in the energy field, which is considered the engine of social and economic growth, especially in Africa.
