A journey between the folds of the Samar Market .. The Food Stock Exchange whose doors are not closed – Algerian dialogue

Since the early hours of dawn, trucks coming from Al Watan factories lined up to empty containers full of foodstuffs, while retailers start arriving to acquire their daily goods.

In every corner there is a continuous movement, small vehicles drawn by hands loaded with cardboard, cranes emptying trucks, porters run between shops as if they were in a race with time.

“The market does not stop,” thus describing “Samir”, a thirty young man who has been working as a porter for years: “We work under the sun and the cold, we carry daily tens of tons of sugar, oil, flour … No insurance or contract, but this is our source of livelihood.”

Despite the hard nature of the work, dozens of young people from the municipalities of the capital and even from far states go to the market in search of a daily income ranging between 1500 and 2500 dinars, depending on the effort and the amount of work.
