Heavy rain and strong winds affect various states of the country

The Meteorological Department announced that significant amounts of thunderstorm rain fell in the northern states of the country on Thursday, with strong winds blowing in the coastal states of the country.

The National Bureau of Meteorology explained, in a special bulletin (Level One Yellow Alert) issued this Thursday, that snow and rain are expected to fall followed by strong winds, warning that a number of states across the country will be concerned with these weather disturbances.

The bulletin added, regarding snowfall, that it will occur at the level of the states of Tizi Ouzou and Khenchela, starting at six in the morning today, Thursday, December 4, until 12 noon on the same day.

The same authorities regarding the rain indicated that the provinces concerned are Algiers, Blida, Medea, Bouira, Souk Ahras, Tissemsilt, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Bejaia, Mila, Guelma, Tizi Ouzou, Annaba, Setif, Constantine, Skikda, Jijel, Ain Oleander, El Tarf, and Boumerdes, and it will start at six o’clock in the evening on Thursday.

The meteorological services warned of strong winds in the states of Skikda, Jijel, Bejaia, Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes, Algiers, Tipaza, Chlef, Mostaganem, Oran, Ain Temouchent, Ouled Jalal, M’Sila, Tebessa and Khenchela.

During the last two days, some states of the country witnessed significant heavy rains, as weather fluctuations caused torrential rains, especially in the streets of the capital, which caused the closure of some roads and axis, leading to stifling congestion.

The civil protection services intervened following the recent weather fluctuations, as the state of Tizi Ouzou and the municipality of Ifrhounen removed a car with two people on board that was stuck due to snowfall in the Fajj Tirourda region. As for the state of Mughayir, the same authorities intervened to absorb rainwater from inside a house in the self-construction neighbourhood.

The protection services in the state of Algiers, the municipality of Bologhin, intervened after the collapse of the ceiling of a room with cracks in the walls at the level of an old villa, without recording any human casualties, while water absorption operations were carried out in some streets.
