The Council of Ministers orders preparations for a project to raise the minimum wage and the unemployment grant – New Algeria

During the Cabinet meeting, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered the Minister of Finance to prepare for a project to raise the minimum wage and the unemployment grant.

It was also decided during the Council of Ministers meeting: to upgrade 11 administrative provinces from mandated states to full-fledged states in the High Plateaus and the South.
The Cabinet meeting statement indicated that the beginning of exploitation of Ghar Jbeilat crude will be in the first quarter of 2026, with the goal being to achieve self-sufficiency and reduce the import bill gradually.
The Council of Ministers also stated that the railway line between Tindouf and Béchar will be launched in January 2026, provided that this event is marked by a national celebratory day commemorating this major development achievement.
