The Ministry of National Defense organized a regional destruction operation for narcotics and psychotropic substances, where more than 13 tons of processed alcohol and more than 15 million psychotropic substances were burned, which confirms the effectiveness of the national strategy in combating this phenomenon.
A statement by the Ministry of National Defense stated, on Thursday, that in implementation of the laws related to the burning and destruction of various types of drugs, and similar to previous operations, regional destruction operations of narcotics and psychotropic substances were organized at the level of Chlef Province, Tlemcen Province, Bashar Province, Biskra Province, and Constantine Province, in the presence of local and regional judicial and security authorities.
The same departments added that during these operations, all the drugs that were seized by units of the People’s National Army, the National Gendarmerie, the National Security and the Algerian customs services were collected through various military aspects.
The Ministry highlighted that the process of destroying and burning seized drugs of all types weighing more than 13 tons, 584 kilograms, and 794 grams of processed alcohol, 673 kilograms, and 311 grams of hard drugs (cocaine), and 15 million, 499 thousand and 176 tablets of psychotropic substances and others, which took place in tight regulatory conditions by harnessing all the material and human capabilities to ensure the success of this operation, and this is under the supervision of Regional committees in charge of destroying narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, headed by the representative of the regional competent judicial authority.
The process of transporting all the seized quantities took place across the various military departments, which were collected at the collection center level, where all the seized quantities were weighed and inventoried by the judicial police services represented by the judicial authorities, the National Gendarmerie and the National Security, to be shipped and escorted to the factories concerned with burning and destruction, where the seals were opened and the seized items were inventoried, and then the process of destroying these drugs was initiated in accordance with legal techniques and standards, while respecting safety conditions and taking into account the protection of the environment and the environment.
These regional operations confirm, once again, the effectiveness of the national strategy to combat this phenomenon and the tremendous efforts of the units of the People’s National Army and various security services in confronting this dangerous scourge on society, national security and the economy, and repelling all attempts that aim to flood the country with these toxins.
