Sports competitions began on Saturday within public and private educational institutions, marking the beginning of the new school sports season announced by the Ministry of National Education, in a step aimed at promoting sports in the school environment and embodying the vision of the President of the Republic in this field.
According to the ministry’s circular, the sports season will witness the organization of national championships in various team and individual sports, including football, handball, basketball, volleyball, cross-country, swimming, table tennis, chess, judo, and karate.
Competitions within educational institutions will continue until December 31, 2025, and then progress through multiple stages starting with the municipality during January and February 2026, then the district in March, then the state in April, arriving at the regional and regional stages during April and June, respectively. As for the final national stage, it will be held in conjunction with the celebrations of the 64th anniversary of Independence and Youth Days, in a national sporting event that culminates the course of the competitions. Over the course of months.
The program targets all students in the three educational levels, including students with special needs, while ensuring the participation of both genders within the framework of equal opportunities and promoting sports integration for all groups. The Ministry stressed that the competitions will be organized outside school hours, on Saturdays, Tuesday afternoons, and school holidays, while preventing them from being organized during semester exam periods in order to preserve the students’ educational path.
These tournaments constitute an opportunity to discover and refine promising sports talents, as the talents will be selected and sponsored by the State School Sports Association throughout the various stages, which opens promising horizons for national sports. The initiative also aims to consolidate the values of citizenship and enhance the spirit of belonging and positive competition among students, in addition to its role in developing their physical, mental and psychological abilities and building a balanced personality.
The Ministry of Education stressed the need for all participating students, including those with special needs, to be subjected to a medical examination related to the ability to practice physical education and sports, to ensure their safety and health protection.
The Ministry called for continuous coordination with youth and sports directorates at the state level to ensure the success of this exceptional sports season, which reflects the growing interest in school sports as a lever for comprehensive development.
