During specific operations in Oran and Tlemcen, the National Gendarmerie managed to overthrow two criminal networks active in the field of illicit drug trafficking, arresting 9 people and seizing 46 kilograms of processed kif.
A statement by the National Gendarmerie Command stated that, within the framework of efforts aimed at confronting organized crime of all kinds, especially related to drugs, and through coordination between the sub-units of the Regional Battalion of the National Gendarmerie in Maghnia, and based on information, members of the research team of the National Gendarmerie in Maghnia were able to put an end to the activity of a criminal network active in the field of illicit drug trafficking.
The same authorities added that, taking advantage of the information, a security formation was put in place with the help of the cytotechnical duo, and after completing all legal procedures and obtaining permission to search the suspect’s house, the residence was raided and a quantity of drugs estimated at 43,800 kilograms was seized, which was stored and camouflaged inside the house. The identity of another person involved in the case who is still on the run was also identified.
The Gendarmerie Services reported that the person concerned was arrested and taken to the headquarters of the National Gendarmerie Research Squad in Maghnia and will be presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Maghnia Court immediately after the investigation is completed.
In the same context, units of the Regional Group of the National Gendarmerie in Oran were able, in separate operations, to overthrow several criminal networks and arrest a number of promoters of these poisons in the neighborhoods of the state of Oran, while seizing the drugs and psychotropic substances that were intended for their promotion.
These operations were based on field work, extensive investigations, and optimal exploitation of the inquiry element, which led to the arrest of 8 people, including those with prior judicial convictions, along with the seizure of 3 kilograms of treated kif, 8,600 capsules of various types of psychotropic substances, a sum of money amounting to 288 million centimes from promotional revenues, two tourist cars, knives, and mobile phones.
After completing all legal procedures, the suspects were brought before the competent judicial authorities for the felony of possession of drugs and psychotropic substances for the purpose of trading, displaying, selling and placing for sale within the framework of an organized criminal group.
