The Minister of State, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, received today, Sunday, at the Ministry’s headquarters, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Abdel Salam Abdi Ali, who is on an official visit to Algeria, according to a statement by the Ministry.
By the way, the two ministers held extensive talks with the participation of members of the delegations of the two countries, which dealt with “ways to consolidate bilateral relations as well as strengthening inter -coordination on regional and international issues of common concern.”
The meeting – the statement added – was an opportunity to find out “the qualitative runs that the sisterly state of Somalia made on the path of rebuilding strong national and university institutions and renewing Algeria’s commitment to support the efforts of the Somali leadership aimed at establishing the foundations of security, stability and development, whether at the bilateral level or from the dual site of Algeria in the UN Security Council and the African Peace and Security Council.”
On the bilateral level, the two parties agreed to “strengthen the institutional structure of cooperation between the two countries and enrich the legal framework for their inter -relations, which was embodied through the signing of the two ministers on three legal texts aimed at establishing a joint government committee and creating a mechanism for political consultations as well as encouraging cooperation in the field of training diplomats.”
Regarding the multilateral cooperation, the talks allowed “the commitment of the two parties to the highest levels of coordination during their current covenant in the UN Security Council, in the service of Arab issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue and the advancement of the priorities of the African continent in various fields, as well as support for development and stability at the regional levels in the Horn of Africa and the Sahrawi coast,” according to the same source.
