Mouloudia of Algeria loses to Lububo of Congo

Mouloudia Algiers was defeated by a goal without a response in its third match for the group stage of the African Champions League, when it faced Congolese Saint-Ilois Lububo for the third group.

The two teams met on the field of Frederik Kibasa Stadium in Lubumbashi, on Sunday evening.

A huge mistake by Ghazala

The locals dominated the first half, creating several good scoring chances.

Saint-Elois Lobobo players shot nine times towards goalkeeper Alexis Guendouz, one of which hit the left post.

For his part, the Algerian football representative took possession of the ball, but in a futile manner, as the presence of Mohamed Ben Khamsa’s teammates was limited to bilateral struggles in the middle of the field.

The physical rush dominated the course of the second half, as the two teams lacked consistency and technical errors were frequent.

The result was a tie in the second minute of stoppage time (92 minutes), when pivotal defender Ayoub Ghazala committed a fatal mistake on striker Enos Molia.

Ghazala obstructed the opponent who was about to shoot the ball inside the penalty area, so the referee announced a penalty kick.

The strike was successfully executed by midfielder Mikael Kimbuto, giving Lobobo the lead in the last breath of the match.

There is no room for failure in the future

The situation of the first professional league champion has become complicated in the last two seasons. After recording its second defeat in the African Champions League.

The capital club is in last place, after being content with a draw against South Africa’s Sun Downs in the second round.

Coach Rulani Mokoena’s squad has no other way but to win the next two matches at home against Lupopo and Al Hilal of Sudan before traveling in the final round to South Africa.

Sun Downs leads Group A with five points, a total also recorded by Al Hilal, but with an advantage over first in goal difference.

Lobobo is in third place with four points, after achieving a draw, a defeat and a victory.

Mouloudia of Algiers will host its Congolese rival, on Friday, at the Shahid Ali Ammar “Lapointe” Stadium in Douira.
