The Algerian Federation calls for support for the national team in anticipation of the World Cup – New Algeria

The Algerian Football Federation called on the national sports community to support the Algerian national team, in anticipation of its participation in the 2026 World Cup finals.

It came in statement Published by the Algerian Football Federation, yesterday evening, Saturday, regarding the Federal Bureau’s meeting, held last Thursday: “The Federal Bureau analyzed the national team’s participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with the aim of drawing the necessary lessons and strengthening the team to make it more efficient and competitive in the upcoming competitions.”

The Algerian Football Federation added: “The participation of our national team in this tournament is considered positive in general, as it qualified to the quarter-finals.”

The statement continued: “The national team is undergoing a renewal phase, with more than half of its squad rebuilt, and continues its steady progress and occupies a position among the top 5 teams in Africa. It is now preparing for a major event, the 2026 World Cup, which requires the mobilization and support of all parties concerned with national football.”

The Algerian national team rose to 28th place in the new FIFA classification, with 1,560.91 points, after occupying 34th place in the classification last December, with 1,517.68 points.

At the African level, the national team is present in Fourth place After the teams of Morocco (8th globally), Senegal (12th) and Nigeria (26th).

The Algerian national team’s progress in the world ranking comes after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which took place in Morocco, from December 21 to January 18, in which the Senegal national team won the title after winning the final match over the host country’s national team with a score of 1-0.

In the “Cannes 2025” finals, the Algerian national team achieved four consecutive victories. This was against the teams of Sudan (3-0), Burkina Faso (1-0), and Equatorial Guinea (3-1), then it beat the Democratic Republic of the Congo (1-0 after extra time) in the quarter-finals, before being eliminated from the competition by the Nigeria team (0-2).
