Strong storms and winds force the Ministry of Education to suspend classes tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Ministry of National Education announced, on Tuesday evening, the suspension of studies in all educational levels, tomorrow, Wednesday and the day after tomorrow, Thursday, across a wide number of states in the country, due to the expected dangerous weather fluctuations.

The Ministry explained, in an official statement, that the decision came as a result of an urgent telegram issued by the Ministry of Interior, Local Communities and Transport, based on a special weather bulletin warning of strong wind gusts that could reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour, starting on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at three o’clock in the afternoon, until Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Accordingly, it was decided to suspend studies on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 January 2026 in all educational institutions in the three phases, across the following states:

Oran, Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Mostaganem, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Camp, Relizane, Naama, El Bayadh, Chlef, Tipaza, Algeria, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Ain Defla, Blida, Medea, Bouira, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Mila, Guelma, Oum El Bouaghi, Khenchela, Tebessa, Biskra, M’Sila, Djelfa, Laghouat, Ouled Jalal, Souk Ahras, Batna and Constantine.

The decision to suspend studies also includes some departments and municipalities, which are:

Barika, Aflo, Al-Abyad Sidi Sheikh, Shalala Palace, Bou Saada, Massaad, Ain Ouasara, Bir Al-Ater, Al-Qantara, Al-Arisha, and Al-Bukhari Palace.

The Ministry of National Education confirmed that this measure falls within the framework of preserving the safety of students, teachers, and all sector users, calling on parents to follow official data and adhere to safety instructions.
