Specific army operations in combating organized crime

Within a week, in qualitative operations, detachments of the People’s National Army were able to arrest 10 members of support for terrorist groups, in addition to arresting 26 drug dealers and thwarting attempts to bring 10.98 quintals of processed kif across the border with Morocco.

A statement by the Ministry of National Defense stated, on Wednesday, that within the framework of the fight against terrorism, detachments of the People’s National Army arrested 10 members of support for terrorist groups, during separate operations across the national territory.

In the same context, and within the framework of fighting organized crime and confronting the scourge of drug trafficking in the country, the detachments of the People’s National Army, during specific operations across various military areas, in coordination with the joint security services, were able to arrest 26 drug dealers and thwart attempts to bring 10.98 quintals of processed kif across the border with Morocco, and seized 2,284,797 hallucinogenic tablets.

Other detachments of the People’s National Army also arrested 259 people in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Saleh, In Guezam and Djanet, and seized 32 vehicles, 188 electric generators, and 111 hammers, in addition to quantities of a mixture of gold ore, stones, and equipment used in illegal gold prospecting operations.

The statement added that other army detachments arrested 11 other people, while seizing an FMPK machine gun, two Kalashnikov machine guns, an automatic pistol, 9 hunting rifles, and 500.24 liters of fuel destined for smuggling, during separate operations.

On the other hand, detachments of the People’s National Army arrested 227 illegal immigrants of different nationalities across the national territory.
