Following the fires that have been taking place in its western municipalities since Thursday, the local authorities of the state of Tipaza have taken a number of measures aimed at supporting fire suppression operations and enhancing their effectiveness.
A statement by the Ministry of the Interior explained that in continuation of the efforts made to contain the fires, which affected the western municipalities of the state of Tipaza, and in parallel with the intensive field interventions of units of the General Directorate of Civil Protection, the local authorities took a series of measures aimed at “supporting the suppression operations and enhancing their effectiveness.”
In this regard, “various local measures were strengthened, in accordance with the instructions of the Prime Minister, with the Minister of the Interior, Local Communities and Transport,” as “a crisis cell was installed, concerned with careful and continuous monitoring of the fire situation, while activating rapid intervention mechanisms and ensuring operational harmony between the various sectors, within the framework of the standards of the local plan for organizing rescue operations.”
In the same context, “field inspections of the progress of suppression operations were conducted, with the participation of the Director General of Civil Protection and the Director General of Forests, as well as officials of the local security and military services, in order to determine the level of preparedness and the good implementation of the interventions,” the statement adds.
These local measures also include “inspecting the evacuation centers and checking on the housing conditions of 55 families who were transferred, as a preventive measure, to safe areas, especially to the (Martyr Muhammad Bouabdallah) school in the municipality of Muslims and the vocational training center in Cherchell, after they were prepared and equipped to receive them temporarily, according to conditions that guarantee their safety and comfort.”
For their part, local technical departments are working on “completing the necessary interventions in order to establish connectivity to various networks, especially electrical energy, and ensuring the continuity of public service for the benefit of citizens,” while civil society activities, in coordination with local authorities, are ensuring that these efforts are accompanied, through specific voluntary initiatives, according to the same source.
