Signing contracts for the construction of seawater desalination plants in these states – New Algeria

Ashraf Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, at a ceremony the signature Contracts were awarded for the construction of three new seawater desalination plants in the states of Tlemcen, Chlef and Mostaganem, in addition to the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Algerian Water Desalination Company (ADC), Sonatrach branch, and the Algerian Water Company (ADE).
A statement from the Ministry, today, Monday, explained that the signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Irrigation, Taha Darbal, the President and Director General of the Sonatrach Complex, Noureddine Daoudi, the President and Director General of the Algerian Water Desalination Company, Lahcen Bada, and the General Director of the Algerian Water Company, along with the Presidents and Directors General of the national institutions in charge of implementation and a number of executives, at the headquarters of the General Directorate of the Sonatrach Complex.
These structural projects – according to the same source – fall within the first part of the second supplementary national program, approved by the President of the Republic, which includes the completion of six major seawater desalination plants, with a production capacity estimated at 300 thousand cubic meters per day for each station, which will contribute to raising the national capacity for producing desalinated water to 5.6 million cubic meters per day in the horizons of 2030.
The completion contracts included the stations of Ain Ajroud in the municipality of Marsa Ben M’hidi (Tlemcen Province), Dahra in the municipality of Marsa (Chlef Province), and Sidi Lajal in the municipality of Khadra (Mostaganem Province), according to the engineering, supply and construction (EPC) formula, ensuring respect for the approved deadlines and technical standards.
In this context – the same statement adds – the Algerian Seawater Desalination Company, in its capacity as a branch of the Sonatrach complex, will supervise the completion of these projects, while the completion works have been assigned to leading national institutions, as the Cosidar Pipe Corporation will undertake the completion of the Tlemcen station, the National Corporation for Great Petroleum Works will undertake the completion of the Chlef station, and the Algerian Company for the Completion of Industrial Projects will undertake the completion of the Mostaganem station, with the completion period set at 22 months.
