Shorfa: Receiving the Constantine cable car rehabilitation project at the end of the year – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazairia

The Minister of Transport, Youssef Charfa, said today, Tuesday, that the project to rehabilitate the aerial cable car for the city of Constantine will be received by the end of the current year.

And the minister said, in a statement to the press on the sidelines of an inspection visit that led him to a number of facilities belonging to his sector in Constantine, that “a project to reconfigure the aerial lift for the city of Constantine will be received at the end of the year, after an expected dispatch of the project’s works next June.”

The minister added that the administrative procedures for assigning this project and appointing the special institution for its implementation have been completed, stressing the need for its work in a rotation system with three teams to expedite the completion of the project within its specified deadlines.

Mr. Charfa indicated that his visit to the state of Constantine also falls within the framework of preparation for the Hajj season, which requires harnessing the necessary capabilities to enable pilgrims to go to the holy sites with ease, especially since Mohamed Boudiaf Airport in Constantine is a destination for many pilgrims from the states of the country.

In this regard, the minister said that monitoring and escorting committees have been established at the airport level to ensure facilitating procedures for pilgrims and the community residing abroad through air and sea transit areas.

Mr. Charfa added that the second objective of his visit to Constantine is related to preparing for the summer season in light of the reinforcement of the air fleet of the airlines by renting planes that operate on domestic and international airlines.

During his visit to the operational unit of the Constantine Foundation (Sitram) in the Zouaghi Slimane neighborhood, the Minister of Transport mentioned the pivotal role that the Constantine Tramway plays in transporting passengers, stressing the need to support transport lines by this means and ensure their periodic maintenance by maintenance teams composed of Algerian manpower and working in coordination With the foreign partner specialized in the metro, cable car or tramway.
