The Secretary-General of the Central Union, Omar Taqgout, revealed a tripartite meeting that will bring together, these days, members of the government, the General Union of Algerian Workers and Patrona, where many files will be discussed, most notably the strengthening of social dialogue and the crystallization of a comprehensive approach to employment and economic development, based on partnership and integration.

Taqjout explained, yesterday, during his hosting in the “Al-Mujahid” daily forum, that: “The meeting will be an opportunity to call on employers to implement the justice rulings issued in favor of workers, and the meeting also carries great importance since it has not been held for ten years,” noting in the same context: “The first meeting will be an initial meeting, to set a work agenda that will be approved, especially determining the nature of the meeting in form, and deciding whether it is permanent and periodic, or circumstantial, organized whenever the need arises, or according to the files. The Secretary-General of the General Union of Algerian Workers said: “The meeting, which was scheduled to be held last week, before it was postponed, will discuss several files related to the labor market, economic recovery, and everything related to the rights and duties of workers. It will stop here, and confirm that it will demand that employers, from both the public and private sectors, comply with the decisions and rulings of justice issued for the benefit of workers.”

For his part, the first official of “Logitia” revealed his deep dissatisfaction with the non-implementation of these decisions, as he estimated their number at dozens in various sectors, and “it is a file that has become ashamed of me and burdens me, and it will be one of the most important reasons for my departure from the head of the union centralization, if I have to do so.”

He added: “From my position as the first representative of the workers in the General Union of Algerian Workers, I have become ‘incapable’ of empowering these workers with their rights,” and he continued in the same context: “I am not the one who implements the decisions of justice… My role in the union is to take care of conveying the problems and concerns of the workers to the decision makers and officials… but the matter goes beyond me and this is what oppresses me.”
