The Minister of the Interior, Local Governments and Transport, Al-Saeed Saeed, called for the preparation of a clear action plan by the beginning of the year 2026, which includes all the instructions given and the set goals, while strengthening coordination between the various local departments and bodies.
This came during the Minister’s chairing of a coordination meeting with the governors of the Republic via video conference technology, in the presence of central frameworks from the Ministry, devoted to evaluating the performance of the year 2025 and determining the extent of implementation of the planned programs, in addition to preparing for the year 2026, by setting priorities, enhancing the development movement, and accelerating the pace of processing priority files at the state level.
The Minister stressed at the beginning of the meeting that the management of the state is based on teamwork and permanent coordination between the various frameworks, interests and elected officials, calling for strengthening recruitment and actual participation in the local dynamic, while engaging competencies and valuing efforts, in a way that ensures improved performance and the effectiveness of field follow-up of various development projects, under the supervision of governors.
Saeed stressed the need for careful follow-up of the structural projects to which the President of the Republic pays special attention, in addition to following up and maintaining the road network, and improving the management of the transportation sector, while giving it the necessary importance within the work of the state councils to enable it to present concerns and take appropriate solutions.
He also stressed the periodic follow-up of development and investment projects that create added value and contribute to giving a positive boost to the local economy, while accelerating the pace of completion and addressing field obstacles in a timely manner, through strictly activating the work of the state committees charged with lifting restrictions and accompanying investors.
With regard to real estate, the Minister stressed strict follow-up of the lands allocated for seawater desalination plant projects, and ensuring that their status is settled in accordance with the applicable legal texts, given the strategic nature of these projects and their importance in enhancing water security, especially since seawater desalination projects receive special attention from the President of the Republic, within the framework of strengthening national water security and ensuring the regular supply of potable water.
He also ordered the initiation of the process of purging the code of equipment programs registered within the framework of the Program to Support Social and Economic Development and the Solidarity and Guarantee Fund for Local Communities.
Regarding the file of conformity of buildings and regularization of their status, the Minister of the Interior noted the decision to extend the legal deadlines for regularization of buildings within the framework of Law No. 08-15, while doubling the activity of the competent local committees in order to decide on all files submitted in accordance with its provisions.
He also stressed the necessity of completing the processing of this file during the year 2026, under the supervision of the heads of departments, with a commitment to deliver the conformity decisions to the owners of the files that received approval.
In the same context, the Minister stressed the need to exercise professional conscience in resolving the situations of citizens, and ordered the governors to urge the various local authorities to play their role in preventing the construction of any chaotic buildings or that do not comply with legal controls and safety measures, and to respond in a timely manner to all violations.
