The Minister of the Interior, Local Governments and Transport, Said Saioud, supervised, on Monday in Bouira, a national civil protection exercise simulating the occurrence of an earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale, with the participation of 44 support detachments for initial interventions.
The Minister arrived at the beginning of the afternoon at the operational base of the maneuver located in the Wadi El Bardi area, where he, accompanied by the Director General of Civil Protection, Colonel Boualem Bouglaf, visited various camps and cells, in addition to the central command center that constitutes this major operational base.
Saeed also inspected the various interests participating in this large-scale national maneuver, in which more than 6,000 civil protection officers of various ranks participate, before reviewing the various detachments coming from 43 states of the country.
The Minister received on-site explanations and comprehensive details about this exercise. In this context, he praised “the high professionalism and level of preparedness of the various civil protection teams deployed in the field, which demonstrated high efficiency in the fields of relief, rescue and intervention in order to save human lives.”
He also noted the participation of the civil protection detachments of the southern states in this large-scale exercise, which allows them, as he said, “to enhance their knowledge and refine their experience in the field of intervention in times of crises and disasters.”
After that, the minister moved to the city of Sur El Ghizlane (south of Bouira), where he inspected a site damaged by the hypothetical earthquake, according to the scenario of this exercise, which began last Friday evening and continues until February 12.
At the Deer Wall, Saeed expressed his “great satisfaction” with the progress of this maneuver, in which 44 initial intervention support detachments of the Civil Protection participated.
To confront this supposed natural disaster that affected a number of cities in the state of Bouira, the participating teams devoted all their capabilities to providing relief to the victims and injured in the municipalities of Oued Al-Bardi, Bouira, Al-Asanam and Sur Al-Ghizlan.
The detachments spread across the sites affected by this hypothetical earthquake include command and rescue teams, rubble removal, diving, search and intervention in dangerous environments, in addition to cytotechnical teams and intervention cells in nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical risks, as they strive with all their means to save human lives.
In the municipalities of Al-Isnam and Sur Al-Ghizlan, groups of civil protection agents used significant material means to remove rubble and rubble and treat people injured as a result of this earthquake that affected the southeastern part of Bouira state, and its epicenter was located 14 kilometers from the municipality of Oued Al-Bardi.
