Saadawi confirms the continuation of social dialogue and the settlement of outstanding issues

The Minister of National Education, Saadawi, stressed the importance of continuing the participatory dialogue with the union organizations accredited in the sector to resolve a number of outstanding issues, within the framework of enhancing consensus on regulatory texts in a way that serves the public interest of sector employees.
The Minister explained during his meeting with officials of the union organizations accredited to the sector, which revolved around discussing the proposed amendments to the draft amendment to Executive Decree 25/54 containing the basic law for educational staff employees, where he listened to the comments and suggestions of the social partners, that this session comes as a continuation of the second round of hearings, consultation and coordination with the Coordination and Drafting Committee, indicating that the discussion on the basic law came to complete the inclusion of the file of employees of economic departments in the first place, in addition to addressing some of the observations and shortcomings recorded by the union organizations. Saadawi stressed that the goal of these sessions is to reach a consensual basic law that achieves the maximum possible stability and comfort for the sector’s employees, noting that the current basic law embodies the government’s implementation of the President of the Republic’s decision to improve the professional and social conditions of the employee in the national education sector and transform him from an employee into an educator.
He pointed out that the basic law included a set of gains, including the new ranks, raising the classification, the issue of retirement for the benefit of employees, adapted positions, and reducing the size of the job.
The Minister stressed the need to coordinate with the Ministry of Labor to provide appropriate conditions for trade union organizations to submit their files and open discussion on the procedural aspects and compatibility with the new texts in the Labor Law, given that the Ministry of Labor is the competent administrative authority in the regulatory aspect of approving and following up on the regulatory path for trade union organizations.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Labor after coordination with the Minister of Labor, who ordered that the space be wide open to receive trade union organizations to raise their concerns and provide positive support for them.
Saadawi indicated that all procedures related to the assignment and placement of members of trade union organizations have been suspended until the completion of work with the Ministry of Labor to update some data, stressing that this step will enable positive work in this field.
The Minister concluded by emphasizing that the government is proceeding in accordance with the priorities set by the President of the Republic, and that the goal is to improve the working conditions of employees in all sectors, calling for continuing the dialogue to reach a consensus project that will be submitted for government approval and achieve the public interest of the sector.
