The Russian Foreign Ministry considered the Israeli-American aggression against Iran a “reckless step,” and demanded the necessity of an immediate return to the diplomatic track to resolve the crisis.

The Russian Foreign Ministry statement said: “The size and nature of the military-political and propaganda preparations that preceded this reckless step, including the mobilization of a large American military group in the region, leave no doubt that the matter is related to a pre-planned and unjustified armed aggressive act against a sovereign, independent state and member of the United Nations, in violation of the basic principles and rules of international law.”

The statement continued: “Washington and Tel Aviv have once again embarked on a dangerous adventure that is rapidly pushing the region towards a humanitarian and economic catastrophe, without ruling out the possibility of causing a radiological catastrophe. The intentions of the aggressors are clear and have been made public: to destroy the constitutional order and eliminate the leadership of an unwanted state that refused to submit to the dictates of power and hegemony. Responsibility for the negative consequences of this fabricated crisis, including a series of unexpected reactions and escalation of violence, lies entirely with them.”

“It also requires condemnation that these attacks are being launched again under the guise of a revived negotiating process, allegedly aimed at achieving a long-term de-escalation of the situation around the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is happening despite signals communicated to the Russian side about Israel’s unwillingness to enter into a military confrontation with the Iranians. The international community, including the United Nations leadership and the International Atomic Energy Agency, must immediately provide an objective and decisive assessment of these irresponsible actions aimed at undermining Peace, stability and security in the Middle East.”

The statement added: “We demand an immediate return to a political and diplomatic solution. Russia was, and still is, ready to facilitate the search for peaceful solutions based on international law, mutual respect, and a balance of interests.” Source: RT
