Resuming production at the seawater desalination plant in Ras El Abyad – New Algeria

revealed Algerian Water Desalination Company (Sonatrach Branch) announced that production had resumed at the seawater desalination plant in Ras El-Abyad (Oran), yesterday, Saturday, after a precautionary pause that lasted a few days.

The Assistant President and General Manager of the company, in charge of communication, Mawloud Hashlaf, explained that the factory returned to production yesterday, Saturday, with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters per day, provided that it will be gradually increased to reach normal capacity in the next few days.

The Algerian Water Desalination Company announced on Friday that a circumstantial technical defect had been recorded at the seawater desalination plant in Ras El Abyad, which resulted in a temporary precautionary stop.

Immediately after recording the defect, the approved technical protocol for rapid intervention was activated, as the specialized teams affiliated with the Sonatrach complex, in coordination with the Algerian Water Desalination Company and the National Company for Civil Engineering and Construction, began diagnostic and treatment operations in accordance with the applicable technical and industrial standards, as indicated.
