Referring defendants from the Oued El Harrach bus tragedy to Casablanca court – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The investigating judge at the Casablanca Court referred the case file related to the tragic fall of a bus in Oued El Harrach, which was operating the Reghaya-Tafoura line in the capital, from the top of the bridge located in the municipality of Mohammedia, east of Algiers, to the ruling.

This referral came five months after the investigation was opened into the painful incident that resulted in the death of 18 people and the injury of 23 others, who were taken care of at the Selim Zemirli University Hospital.

On March 8, the court is expected to begin the trial of four defendants detained in temporary detention, led by the bus driver and the bus driver who was working with him, in addition to the original owner of the vehicle who placed it at the driver’s disposal to work on it during the weekend, in addition to another defendant who continues to grant the bus a technical card despite it not conforming to the conditions of mass transportation for passengers.

The Public Prosecution had opened a preliminary investigation on August 16, 2025, to uncover the circumstances of the accident that occurred after the bus suddenly deviated and fell from the top of the bridge, in an accident that caused widespread resonance due to its heavy toll.

The Civil Protection Services, supported by a specialized diving team, intervened to recover the victims and treat the injured, while the Judicial Police in the Eastern Province brought the parties of the case before the court prosecution to initiate the necessary legal procedures.
