Real Madrid is preparing to launch one of its largest sports initiatives outside Europe, through an ambitious project to form football talents in Algeria, according to what was reported by the club’s official website.
The initiative, which will be officially launched in January 2026, through the “Real Madrid Foundation”, in cooperation with MENA Elite Sports, aims to train and frame 150 Algerian youths in its first stage.
The program aims to instill the educational and sports values that the Royal Club raises around the world, and to make football a way to build the character and discipline before it is merely sports competition.
The project was announced during an official ceremony at the headquarters of Real Madrid, in the presence of the former star and the current director of institutional relations at the club Emilio Potraginho, as well as a delegation from the MENA Elite Sports.
The two parties stressed, during the occasion, that this program represents a historical step in the path of developing Algerian football from Al Qaeda, as it seeks to form local players who are able to compete according to international standards.
Putraginho considered that Algeria has great football energies that deserve support and scientific framing, stressing that the Real Madrid project in Algeria will be a “gateway to the industry of new generations of Arab and African stars.”
It is expected that the first phase of the project will start in the Algerian capital, Algeria, to expand later to the cities of Oran, Setif and Tizi Ouzou, according to a statement issued by the Spanish club.
The plan will also include training programs directed at local trainers to ensure the sustainability and generalization of the experience in the long run.
Through this initiative, Real Madrid aspires to make Algeria a typical center for the formation of talent in the Middle East and North Africa, based on its long experience in the conduct of football schools around the world.
Observers believe that this step represents a golden opportunity for the Algerian football to benefit from the experience of an ancient club that has a culture of victory, discipline and teamwork.
