
The Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Issues, Surgi Moulouji, confirmed on Saturday in Algiers, that the Algerian state’s commitment to the social nature made the issue of protecting elderly people one of the priorities of the government’s work.
In a speech read on her behalf, the director of the protection of the elderly people in the ministry, Sumaya Oman, during a school day on the topic of “ways to sponsor the great fate in light of the psychological and health changes accompanying the age”, Moulouji emphasized that “the close link to the Algerian society with its cultural identity and religious authority, in addition to the Algerian state’s commitment to the social nature, made the issue of protecting elderly persons one of the priorities of the government’s work in its various programs.”
To achieve the endeavors made to ensure the elderly persons, the Minister stressed the need to “redouble efforts to move towards the digitization of social services in a manner that guarantees transparency and social justice and equal opportunities for all in benefiting from various aid and solidarity programs as well as the privileges directed to this category, according to the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdul Majeed Taboun.”
She added that the national efforts in the field of protecting this category depends on “setting a compact social policy, and taking into account the approach of sustainable sustainable development in order to enable the reintegration of elderly persons who suffer from social fragility in their family and social circles by providing various ways of support and accompanying them and for their interlocutor.”
In the same context, she pointed out that its ministerial sector is a line through its social policy, “a number of mechanisms that work to protect the elderly person and maintain his position in the family and society by stabilizing the principles and rules aimed at his support and preserving his dignity within the framework of national and family solidarity and cohesion between generations.”
Moulouji stated in the data issued by the National Bureau of Statistics, which demonstrated the registration of “increasing proportions” in the category of elderly persons, noting that these percentages call for “the preparation of future perceptions that look forward to the needs of this category in all the necessary social and health fields while working to develop a national strategy with new and effective mechanisms.”
For reference, this organized academic day on the occasion of the revival of the International Day of Elderly Persons in October of October of each year, has known the participation of representatives from the various related sectors, along with the head of the United Nations Population Fund Office in Algeria, Fayza bin Drees.
