President Tebboune orders the immediate return of the Algerian ambassador to Niger to Niamey – the new Algeria

Today, Thursday, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, ordered the immediate return of the Algerian Ambassador to the Republic of Niger to his workplace in Niamey, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This decision came after the return of the Nigerien ambassador to Algeria and his resumption of his duties today, February 12, 2026, in a step that reflects a joint will to reactivate channels of diplomatic communication between the two countries.

The statement stressed that this step highlights the importance that the President of the Republic attaches to strengthening fraternal and good-neighborly relations with Niger. It also represents an impetus for reviving bilateral political consultation at the highest level and resuming multi-field cooperation, in addition to embodying strategic projects to serve regional and continental integration.
