President Tebboune: Foreign interventions are the most prominent thing fueling instability in Africa – New Algeria

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said that illegal foreign interference is one of the most prominent factors that fuel instability and hinder the paths of resolving disputes and democratic building in Africa, which requires a unified and resolute African position to confront it from the standpoint of shared responsibility.
Regarding Libya, he said, “In sisterly Libya, we renew our firm support for the Libyan-Libyan political track, and for the continental and international efforts aimed at bringing the views of the opposing brothers closer together. My country appreciates the signing of the President of the Libyan Presidential Council of the National Reconciliation Charter, stressing that the only solution to this truly protracted crisis lies in organizing free and transparent elections and a complete and immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries, in a way that guarantees the unity and sovereignty of Libya.”
President Tebboune expressed his regret at the humanitarian tragedy and the unprecedented violations taking place in Sudan, while he appreciated the pivotal role of the African Union in its efforts to resolve this crisis. He also called for an immediate ceasefire and the launch of a Sudanese-Sudanese national dialogue, sovereign and comprehensive, that would put an end to the bloodshed and respond to the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability and living in dignity.
Regarding the path of decolonization in Western Sahara, he said, “My delegation reaffirms its support for the efforts made by the United Nations to reach a just, lasting, workable and mutually acceptable political solution, in accordance with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and the relevant Security Council resolutions. It also stresses the importance of continuing to engage constructively in the political track, under the auspices of the United Nations, while supporting the role played by the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General, in a way that contributes to strengthening peace, security and stability in the region.”
President Tebboune stressed that illegal foreign interference is still one of the most prominent factors that fuel instability and hinder the paths of resolving disputes and democratic building on our continent, which requires a unified and firm African position to confront it from the standpoint of shared responsibility.
In this context, he said that facing these challenges requires us to fully activate the African peace and security structure, and transform the principle of “African solutions to African problems into a practical reality, by supporting the return to the constitutional system and strengthening political dialogue, in addition to activating the African Rapid Intervention Force and ensuring the financial independence of peacekeeping operations, especially by supporting the African Peace Fund, in a way that guarantees the independence of our political decision.
