Algeria sees the necessity of adopting a comprehensive and integrated approach that takes into account the close interrelationship between security and development, as it is not possible to talk about combating violent extremism without addressing its social and economic roots, nor without providing real and sustainable development prospects for the youth of the region, with an emphasis on respecting the sovereignty of the countries concerned and supporting their national capabilities in extending state authority and protecting its borders and people.

Regarding Libya, he said, “In sisterly Libya, we renew our firm support for the Libyan-Libyan political track, and for the continental and international efforts aimed at bringing the views of the opposing brothers closer together. My country appreciates the signing of the President of the Libyan Presidential Council of the National Reconciliation Charter, stressing that the only solution to this truly protracted crisis lies in organizing free and transparent elections and a complete and immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries, in a way that guarantees the unity and sovereignty of Libya.”

President Tebboune expressed his regret at the humanitarian tragedy and the unprecedented violations taking place in Sudan, while he appreciated the pivotal role of the African Union in its efforts to resolve this crisis. He also called for an immediate ceasefire and the launch of a Sudanese-Sudanese national dialogue, sovereign and comprehensive, that would put an end to the bloodshed and respond to the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability and living in dignity.

Algeria affirmed its firm commitment to the principles entrenched in the founding texts For the African Union And the Charter of the United Nations, especially through its membership in the African Peace and Security Council, its continued support for peaceful solutions to African conflicts, and the strengthening of collective efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism, within the framework of African solidarity, as the only way to build a safe, stable and prosperous Africa.
