This is to clarify that he assured his team’s players to forget the disappointing participation of the “Greens” team in the previous two rounds of the African Cup of Nations finals, in “Cannes 2021” in Cameroon and “Cannes 2023” in Côte d’Ivoire, when the Algerian team was eliminated from the first round of both rounds.
Petkovic pointed out that winning the opening match of any competition is considered very important, in anticipation of the rest of the journey, especially from a moral standpoint. Speaking about the Sudan match, he added: “You must win the first match in order to get the confidence you need.” He continued: “The victory will give the team confidence and positive momentum for the remainder of the competition.”

Then it will meet Burkina Faso on Sunday, December 28 (18:30), and Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday, December 31 (17:00). The first and second place finishers from each group qualify. This is in addition to the four best third-placed teams, who advance to the quarter-finals.
