
The head of the Supreme Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Combating of Corruption, Professor Salima Masrati, confirmed that participatory democracy is an essential element in achieving sustainable social development, stressing that the National Strategy for Transparency and Prevention of Corruption has made strengthening participatory democracy and community oversight one of its primary goals.
Salima Mesrati, in the state of Bouira, supervised the opening of the second and final phase of the training course for training the trainers, organized by the higher authority in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior, local authorities, transport and the state of Bouira, for the benefit of the members of the Algerian Transparency Network Committee “We See You”, under the slogan: “Continuous formation… of an effective civil society in the fight against corruption.”
In her opening speech, the Head of the Supreme Authority stressed that international and regional agreements have called on states parties to create an enabling environment that guarantees the effective participation of civil society organizations in efforts to prevent and combat corruption, which Algeria embodies by activating the legal and institutional frameworks supporting this endeavour.
She indicated that the supreme authority, in accordance with the legal powers granted to it, is working to establish an interactive national network concerned with involving all spectrums of civil society activities, with the aim of unifying efforts and promoting citizen initiatives aimed at consolidating the values of integrity.
The President also explained that the higher authority is currently working on preparing a new regulatory text, calling on associations to adopt transparency systems at their level, in a way that enhances confidence and ensures integrity and clarity in management.

This second phase of the training session will include interventions from members of the Supreme Authority Council and its executives, as well as professors from the University of Bouira, in addition to interactive workshops in the evening, during which practical procedures will be identified to activate the second goal of the national strategy, explanations will be provided about transparency systems, as well as empowering participants with tools for evaluating public policies within the framework of participatory democracy.
During her speech, Professor Masrati called for spreading the culture of reporting corruption, and organizing awareness campaigns within educational and university institutions to consolidate the values of citizenship and integrity among the rising generations.
The President of the Supreme Authority concluded her speech by emphasizing that:
“Success in the fight against corruption is a collective responsibility, requiring the commitment of both the state and society, to build a new Algeria, whose slogan is integrity, justice, and transparency.”
For reference, this session falls within the framework of continuing efforts to strengthen the capabilities of civil society in the field of transparency and preventing and combating corruption, emphasizing the vital role it plays as a key partner in promoting integrity and consolidating the values of accountability and transparency.
