The Oran State Security statement stated, on Sunday, that in a qualitative operation carried out last weekend, the First District of the Oran State Security Judicial Police was able to dismantle a transnational organized criminal network active in the field of smuggling migrants across the sea, with the arrest of four suspected planners of these trips, one of whom is of Moroccan nationality, with the seizure of a number of vehicles and significant sums of money in the national currency and various foreign and Moroccan currencies.
The same interests added that the specific operation, which was carried out under the supervision of the regional competent prosecution of the Republic, came in accordance with a field research plan that led to the identification of the elements composing this criminal network and their whereabouts, as a shop selling wooden furniture was discovered, frequented by a number of suspicious people, who used it as a refuge to shelter them and cover up their criminal activity.
The operation resulted in the arrest of four members of the criminal network, including a Moroccan national with an illegal residence on the national territory, in addition to the seizure of sums of money in foreign currency estimated at 40,000 euros, 520 Moroccan dirhams, and 3 vehicles of various types that were used in their suspicious movements.
The security services reported that after completing all applicable legal procedures, the suspects were presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Ottoman Court in Oran.
