On the second day of his visit to the State of Qatar, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, Lieutenant General Said Changriha, attended the official opening ceremony of the ninth edition of the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference “DIMDEX-2026”, according to what was reported today, Monday, in a statement by the Ministry of National Defence.

The statement explained that “during the second day of his visit to the sisterly State of Qatar, Lieutenant General Saïd Changriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, today, January 19, 2026, attended the official opening ceremony of the activities of the ninth edition of the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX-2026).”

Following the end of the official opening ceremony of this global event, which is being held under the supervision of His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar, Lieutenant General Al-Saeed Shangriha and his accompanying delegation toured some of the exhibition’s pavilions, where he “closely inspected the equipment and equipment on display, such as weapons and high-tech weapons systems, and listened with interest to comprehensive explanations and presentations provided by those in charge of the pavilions,” as the same source indicated.

By the way, Lieutenant General Al-Saeed Shangriha was received by His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, where he expressed to his host “his sincere thanks for the warm reception and generous hospitality,” reviewing “the areas of military cooperation linking the armies of the two countries, which is witnessing great momentum, in light of the high and continuous patronage of the leaders of the two countries and their shared keenness to advance it further and reach its desired extent.”

For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani praised “the distinguished level of bilateral military cooperation between the two brotherly countries,” the statement adds, noting that at the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts.

The team also had the first “fraternal meeting with Lieutenant General Pilot Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Mannai, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces,” where the two parties discussed “the state of bilateral military cooperation and ways to develop it to the level of the excellent relations between Algeria and Qatar, and to raise them to the aspirations of the leaders of the two brotherly countries,” the statement continues.

At this opportunity, Lieutenant General Shangriha praised the Algerian-Qatari relations, which “have witnessed, in recent years, a strong momentum and distinguished momentum,” while the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, for his part, praised the level of bilateral military cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries, expressing his “appreciation to Lieutenant General for answering the invitation.”
